Back magick, or other wise known as the "dark arts" is also widely known as dark magick as well. They are from the power of the person's heart and soul, considering we all have magick within our hearts. Stereotypically, dark magick is supposedly rash, selfish, and violent unlike it's right handed sister, white magick.
But by reality, a dark time can create a darker energy. Sometimes when someone isn't happy with their own life, they can become angry. Because of their anger, that can sometimes lead to vengeance. Although this isn't always the case, it's easy in our own right to see why someone would turn to black magick in a dark time. But sometimes, black magick isn't as evil is what society depicts.
Dark magick has some evil undertones, surely, but it's not pictured to be as dark as what it appears to be in many cases. For a lot of cases, a spell can be used to change an outcome of a situation, but is not one that is fueled by anger and rage. A dark spell can have a positive intention behind it, which can lead to a good outcome. Perhaps even if the magician is trying to alter the way another person acts, behaves, and/or feels.
However any way as you look at it, the ideas of performing light and dark magick is not as easy or clear as it may seem to a lot of people. There are tons of people that don't wish to label magick bad or black or even dark magick because most of the times, it connects people to the idea of evilness. Perhaps it's just simple to call it just "magick", because by reality, magick has no color. It's only based on your intention!
